Being from Tunnel Hill, GA, the hill and valley region of the Appalachian foothills is BJ’s favorite inspiration. Her artwork can
be found on her blog “Foothills and Highlands” at www.beejw.blogspot.com.
Painting en plein air in oils is her preferred medium, although she sometimes paints in studio with acrylics.
While she studied art at UTC in the mid 1970’s, she didn’t begin painting seriously until 2000.
Plein air landscapes and impressionist works done from her own photographs summarize her painting style.
Her work is shown at the Creative Arts Guild in Dalton, GA, and Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, GA. She also exhibits at the Prater’s Mill Country Fair, Creative Arts Guild’s Fine Arts Festival, the Tunnel Hill Heritage Center’s Civil War art exhibit, and Michael’s Gallery in Dalton, GA.
“Capturing the lay of the land is my delight,” BJ says. “Times and peoples come and go…but the land still remains.”
